Posto Bistro
Posto came to life quite by chance through a serendipitous introduction by a dear friend who brought S and R together. Though from opposite ends of India - S from the East and R from the West - they shared a common fire: a passion for creating something meaningful in the world of food.
At the time, R was running a cosy Indian restaurant in Prague, while S, a wanderlust with a creative soul, was searching for the right outlet to bring her culinary vision to life. What began as a casual meeting soon turned into long, inspiring conversations about flavours, sustainability, and the joy of sharing honest food. After much thought, planning, and heart, Posto was born - a small bistro tucked into Vinohrady, one of Prague’s most beloved neighbourhoods for food lovers.
The name Posto comes from the Bengali word for poppy seeds , also known as mák in Czech. It’s a humble spice that bridges two cultures, a tiny seed with a powerful personality. As S often says,
“It’s incredible how something so small can hold so much character. That’s how we see Posto, a little space with a big soul.”
From the very beginning, our aim has been to craft fresh authentic Indian vegetarian and vegan food. Food that is wholesome, sustainable, and deeply rooted in the traditions of India. Each dish tells a story from a different region, brought to life with care and respect for the ingredients.
As R beautifully puts it,
“We didn’t set out to open just another restaurant. We wanted to create an experience that feels like home, wherever you’re from.”
With each visit and every plate, we hope you feel the warmth, sincerity, and joy that inspired Posto’s creation.
